Chelsea Space, Chelsea School of Art and Design
The first panel event was held at Chelsea Space, Chelsea School of Art and Design on Friday 26 February 2010.
The dialogue event at Chelsea Space was the first public opportunity to learn about how artists Emma Hart, Charlie Fox and Paul B Davis have been working together over the first two months of the Rational Rec 2010 collaborative commission. Introducing their personal histories of collaboration and their individual practices, the artists also discussed a selected history of collaboration both in and outside the arts - from state collaboration, Xerox PARC and creative collaborations to online open source coding and the legalities of artistic collaboration in groups. The discussion was then opened up and the audience (which included artists, academics, writers and curators) was invited to respond to the presentations. Issues ranged from the rationales for collaborating, to questioning the processes and frameworks for collaboration, the role and engagement of an audience and the usefulness of rules and constraints.
Louisa Martin, our Digital Marketing and Development Assistant, was tweeting live from the event.
Our thanks to Donald Smith and Chelsea Space for generously hosting this event.
