Season 3 evaluation
Felicity Mukherjee: Quantifying Rational Rec
Rational Rec commissioned artist Lucy Panesar at the end of 2007 to evaluate Rational Rec as part of her live art practice, working with our audiences as her corporate alter-ego character Felicity Mukherjee. Felicity is an independent consultant and specialist in market research and audience evaluation for the creative and cultural sector.
The resulting report, Quantifying Rational Rec, highlights key facts about our audiences and blends these with actual qualitative data and fictive research aims. In this way, Rational Rec better understood our audience while examining the condescending and patronising lens of the original concepts of 'Rational Recreation' and evaluation studies.
Quantifying Rational Rec is available to download in PDF (2.4MB). Above: Felicity Mukherjee working on her evaluation at March 2008's Spitalfields Festival launch. The proportional length of the index finger was believed in Victorian times to be an indicator of musical ability - an idea that still refuses to go away.
