Season 3: October 2007 - July 2008
Introduction
Rational Rec’s third season was the culmination of our first phase of work and the most successful season we had. Multiple partnerships with world-class venues and programmers – Southbank Centre, Spitalfield’s Festival, LUX – ensured the highest profile of any of our seasons and enabled us to attract top quality artists from a variety of media.
And yet, Rational Rec still mostly took place, as ever, at Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club, reinforcing our commitment to bringing the finest international interdisciplinary arts events to east London, and ensuring maximum access by still only charging £5 on the door. With generous support from Arts Council England, the PRS Foundation and the Hinrichsen Foundation, Rational Rec was able to guarantee support to our artists and promote the events effectively.
So what next for Rational Rec? After working for 3 years in London we’ve witnessed the rise of many other interdisciplinary arts events; we like to think we were an inspiration to many of these promoters and venues and are glad our work is done. Rational Rec will continue, in a refocused form, to support emerging arts practice, encourage the production of interdisciplinary and bring the best in arts practice to London.
